Greece Travel Itinerary 6
If you are thinking of taking a trip to Greece for 7 or 10 days, you are in the right place. You could spend several months in Greece and never get tired of discovering wonderful places every day, but the country is large enough that you can see most of its main attractions in 7 or 10 days. Greece is Athens, possibly one of the most fascinating cities in the world, but it is also Delphi, Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, Meteora and an endless number of islands, each one more beautiful than the last. So, if we organize ourselves well, and if it is our first time in Greece, in one week we can enjoy a good contact surrounded by history and mythology.
To carry out this itinerary for a trip to Greece for 7 or 10 days, the best option is to use a rental car. Having your own vehicle will allow you to make the most of your time and will also give you the freedom to stop whenever you want, because in Greece, when it is not a small village, it is a mountainous landscape or a coast bathed by turquoise waters that will encourage you to stop constantly.

What we propose is a circular itinerary around Greece. Athens will be the beginning and end of your trip, so you can decide whether you want to visit Athens on arrival or departure. The rest of the time, if you have 7 days, we recommend that you divide it between the Peloponnese, Delphi and Meteora, so that you can see the most striking and interesting places in Greece. And if you have 10 days, you can also add a visit to one of the islands to get to know one of the most characteristic and Mediterranean sides of the country.
Athens deserves a separate trip, but it should never be left out of any trip to Greece worth its salt. The Greek capital is a history book that opens up before us and, even if it’s your first time, you’ll certainly know where to start: the Acropolis. Let’s not be mistaken, the Acropolis of Athens is one of the most popular tourist sites in the world, and the Parthenon is its main representative. It is the Greek temple built between 447 BC and 432 BC, but there is much more to the Acropolis: the Erechtheion with its Caryatids, the Propylaea, the temple of Athena Nike, the Theatre of Dionysus Eleutherius, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus… And not only that, because as essential as the Acropolis is the Acropolis Museum of Athens, located just 300 metres from it. Here, among some of the greatest gems of Greek archaeology, you will see all the decorative elements of the Parthenon that are preserved in Greece, as everything else is in the British Museum in London.
Once you’ve enjoyed the Acropolis, remember that there are many other places of interest awaiting you in the lower part of the city, such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Agora, the Roman Agora and the Archaeological Museum of Athens, which houses the best artefacts from all over the country. To enjoy the bustling atmosphere of Athens, don’t miss Syntagma Square and neighbourhoods such as Psiri, Monastiraki, Anafiotica and Plaka, as well as the exquisite Greek cuisine in some of the city’s best restaurants.
